PROTOTYPING
After graduation from college in 1999 it was found that the aircraft industry had taken a down turn at it was nearly impossible to get a job in that field. What was booming at the time was the Semiconductor field. Sherman ended up getting a job as Mechanical Design Engineer at a company in San Jose, California by the name of KLA-Tencor. There he worked designing, prototyping and building CD-SEMs (Critical Dimension Scanning Electron Microscopes) to inspect for defects on silicon wafers for the computer industry. This is where he learned to work with high tolerance parts in materials such as 7075 Aluminum, Titanium, Stainless Steel and many grades of ceramics. He is now working at a company by the name of Solyndra designing solar panels and solar panel processing equipment for the large commercial solar arrays In 2005, Sherman saw a need with people he knew in the hunting and firearms circles that had good ideas for mechanical system but did not have the experience do engineering calculations, layouts and drawings needed to manufacture their ideas. SES Prototyping was developed to help those people to get their ideas down on paper and get the prototypes put together so that full manufacturing can be pursued. They have milling, turning and welding capability in house and have a large list of machine shops that have CNC capability. They use the latest Solidworks 3D CAD program for design and COSMOSWorks for all the structural analysis. This cut down on the amount of time it takes to go from idea to finished product. The majority of Sherman’s shooting is focused on hunting and long range accuracy. He has set up his own 1000 yard shooting range on his property in Northern California and is working on getting proficient at distance in all weather and shooting conditions. As hunting is a major part of his life and most long range rifles are in the 13-16 lbs range, Sherman is constantly looking on how to drop weight but still get the best and most accurate set-up possible. This is where Bettin Custom Guns and SES Prototyping has come together. We are working on building a light weight system that will incorporate the latest composite technologies and top quality material to build a light weight, low recoil, highly accurate and high reliable system at a cost completive price. We are always looking to improve the product and look forward to your feed back. Sherman Seelinger at SES Prototyping can be contacted by email at sesprototyping@yahoo.com.
